(Cindy) Cheng I-Hsin (1991-)

Born in Kaohsiung, Taiwan and raised in Penang, Malaysia, Cindy Cheng I-Hsin received her bachelor's degree in Foreign Languages and Literatures at National Taiwan University, where she also completed the Art and Design Programme, and is currently pursuing her master's degree in fine art at Taipei National University of the Arts. In her university years, she began ‘Project Living Andy Warhol (2011-15)', a long-term project reinterpreting Andy Warhol’s original screen-print through repetitive handwork using fine ball-point pens. In a chronological manner, the project reflects on the interrelationship between art and everyday life while questions the possibilities of creating without an art school background. In response to the modern day popularisation of mechanical reproduction, ‘Project Living Andy Warhol’ aims at rethinking and discovering traces of aura and human(ity) in visual images.
